I am someone who has struggled with weight and suffered through pain issues for most of my life. This is part of what inspired me to become a trainer. I began lifting weights in the seventh grade, then in the summer of my tenth-grade year, I suffered an injury. This injury loomed over me for several years, visiting hundreds of doctors, physical therapists, and hospitals. I received several diagnoses, but no one could ever seem to help me get out of pain. I even spent the last quarter of my junior year of high school inpatient at the Children’s Institute. I could not pinpoint where or when it happened, but my weight became a big problem in my life. I thought I was doing all of the right things, eating the right things and making all the right moves, only to be somehow moving in the wrong direction and gaining bad weight…and lots of it. Then one day I finally said, “enough is enough.” And I began taking back control of my life. I began a strict new eating regimen and workout plan and over the course of a little more than a year, I lost over 100 pounds! I am still constantly working on bettering myself and my physique and was still shooting for my dreams. This may seem a little confusing, the use of the word “was.” The thing is, dreams evolve. My new dream is to help others reach their dreams. I always emphasize a quote from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, “We are all a work in progress.”
There are so many “trainers,” “coaches,” “online influencers,” etc., out there…the market is so saturated…what makes me different? First of all, I know what I am doing. I cannot emphasize this one enough, so many of these online people have absolutely no clue what they’re doing. They may be good salespeople, but not good teachers. They may look great, but they cannot get you where you want to go. Its one of the “lies of the beautiful people”.
Most importantly, I am a quiet, understanding, unassuming voice. I won’t yell and scream if we train together like you see in so many places. That didn’t work for me, and I do not teach that way. We are all in different places in life and while nobody can know your exact unique journey and how it has impacted you, I do know what suffering and pain is, and I will help!
I am a certified fitness trainer through the International Sports Science Association, a Powerlifting coach certified through USA Powerlifting, with specializations in Bodybuilding Coaching also through the ISSA, as well as an MMA Conditioning Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
